Nepotism?

M Vijay called up as cover for Gambhir. Jeez man, you have Jaffer, Aakash Chopra & Dinesh Karthik but no, you go for such a left field choice. Can't help but think that it is because of the chief selector and this guy being from the same state even though he has had a great season this year. Whatever! For India's sake I hope he succeeds if he makes his debut in the fourth test.

hmm...dinesh karthik is from the same state too!!! Lest you forget, Jaffer had a msierable time in Australia earlier this yr! The choice was between Chopra and Vijay and given his recent run of form and the fact that Srikanth would have noticed him closely prolly gave Vijay the chance.

It's all about timing, I have no probs with giving chances to performers. You have a chance to win a series against Australia and you go for a greenhorn when you have people who have proven themselves before. Dinesh Karthikk as an opening batsmen did what was asked of him but still gets booted out of the team, same case with Chopra and I think you can cut Jaffer some slack, he just failed in one or two series. Now is just not the right time to blood Vijay.

Also making runs against the New Zealand A team and the domestic teams is ok but it's a completely different ball game when you are facing people like Bret lee, remember the look on Manoj Tiwary's face in Brisbane after he lost his off-stump, last year.
